Last January, I had the chance to visit my good friend, Bhavya, in his home city of Mumbai.

I've always wanted to visit Mumbai for many reasons - be it the history, the film, the food, or the fashion. It certainly is a city that has left its imprint on India, and the world. Yet seeing Mumbai through the eyes of a Bhavya was invaluable.

Bhavya grew up in Mumbai. On this journey, he walked me through his neighborhood, showed me his uncle's shop, took me to the chai-walla that his friends went to when skipping academy class. He shared with me the history of the Mumbai Train Station attacks, and the city's problem with police brutality.

Seeing the city through his eyes, I now understand the deep-rooted history, as well as the innovative rhythm that the youth of Mumbai carries today. In other words, I cannot wait to return.
